Awww!
A poor husky, Polo, accidentally had his foot run over around Christmas time and faced a lifetime ahead of him without a front leg and paw to stand on, but thanks to a modern miracle, he is back on all fours.
After the accident Polo had three options: Amputation, expensive surgery, or a prosthetic leg.
With the total cost under $1,000 (compared for $5,000 surgery) Polo’s family enlisted Trey Calfee, a small animal surgeon with Nashville Vet Specialists, who said:
“It’s not something that has been really published in the veterinary literature. There’s not research that really exists on it that I’m aware of, so it was really owner directed. ‘Can we do this with my dog?’ and generally the answer is always ‘Yes’.”
With only a small limp, it looks like Polo is doing fine with his new leg and we hope it continues to work out for him.
