Donald Glover is usually a fearless performer, but singing alongside Beyoncé almost turned him into a cowardly lion!
The multi-hyphenate opened up about lending his voice to play Simba in Disney‘s upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King, admitting that recording the songs with the Queen of Pride Rock was a bit “intimidating.”

During press for Solo: A Star Wars Story, he explained to ET:

“We started recording some stuff [for The Lion King] and it’s, you know, it’s a little intimidating. [At least] from my point of view.”

We couldn’t even imagine the pressure of duetting Can You Feel The Love Tonight with Bey, who plays Simba’s childhood friend turned lion lover Nala in the beloved classic.
Despite the intimidating costar, the 34-year-old insisted that being on the Disney production is “probably the safest thing, just because everybody who’s involved is a fan, and everybody who is involved knows it really well.”

That includes the Atlanta mastermind, of course:

“They’re like, ‘So here are the lyrics,’ and I’m like, ‘I know the lyrics! Don’t worry.’ I was in fourth grade when this came out.”

Glover added that one of the best parts of recording The Lion King was watching Beyoncé work her vocal magic:

“Just hearing her do it, it’s been like, ‘Man, this is a really special thing.'”

Sounds like audiences can set their expectations high!
