Donald Trump Jokes About The 'Beautiful' Widow Of Man Killed In His Assassination Attempt

Donald Trump Jokes About Widow Assassination Attempt

On the scale of Donald Trump scandals, this is pretty minor. But damned if it isn’t one of the best little examples of why he has no business being president.

If you think what he says in his hour-plus speeches at rallies is distasteful, just wait until you hear what he says when it’s just the Republican supporters who can hear!

Back on August 10, the Celebrity Apprentice host-turned-wannabe dictator spoke to donors at a fundraising dinner. This was just a month after the alleged assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. While Trump wasn’t injured, people in the crowd were. A firefighter named Corey Comperatore was killed.

Trump was working the room, making jokes, according to audio just obtained by the Guardian. And he decided to make one about Corey’s widow, Helen. He told the donors he had spoken to her, telling her she’d “get millions of dollars” after what happened to her beloved husband. Trump quipped:

“But the woman, the wife, this beautiful woman, I handed her the check — we handed her the check — and she said, ‘This is so nice, and I appreciate it, but I’d much rather have my husband.’ Now, I know some of the women in this room wouldn’t say the same.”

We’re sorry, but… really?? The woman lost her husband less than a month prior — because he was there to see YOU… and you’re going to joke about it? Yeesh!

Also… Calling her beautiful? Major ICK! Why is that his go-to judgment of women, oh wait we know the answer it’s because he’s a misogynist. Anyway, he continued kidding around about it with Texas Governor Greg Abbott:

“I know at least four couples. There are four couples, Governor, that I know and you’re not one of them. At least four couples here would have been thrilled, actually.”

JFC, man. The woman lost her husband. Where’s the decorum? This would be such an insanely huge scandal if it was said by Kamala Harris or Tim Walz. The effing bar is so low for Trump, we swear…

Again, this is just such a good example of why Trump shouldn’t be president. He just doesn’t care about anything. Even his supporters. So gross.

Interesting note to that story? He bragged about giving that money to Mrs. Comperatore and the other victims back in August, right? Only… she only told the New York Times she’d gotten some money last week! That’s two months later! So… was Trump making up the thing about handing her the check? Was the quote something he made up, too? Just as a setup for his stupid joke?

Anyway, at least she and the others are finally being paid that money, apparently. The Trump campaign assured the press it was finally happening after weeks of ever-increasing scrutiny. Eyebrows were raised once again when Trump set up another GoFundMe last week for Hurricane Helene victims — instead of just guiding them to the Red Cross and other organizations on the ground to donate to.

It’s no wonder folks are nervous about Trump doing this kind of charity work where the money passes through him first. His egregious self-dealing — paying himself exorbitant sums out of the charity coffers — got him and his Trump Foundation dissolved and his family BANNED from doing charity.

The campaign has sworn though that NONE of the GoFundMe money would be used for the election. And we can totally trust them.
