Pete Doherty is actually good for something.
Guy Ritchie has admitted that a character from his new film, RocknRolla, is based on Doperty.
In the film, a painting falls into the hands of rock star Johnny Story, the shambolic musician inspired by Dopey. He’s hiding out in a crack den, having been declared dead, and finds himself caught in the middle of a battle between the Russian mob, the established London underworld and its rising tough guys.
Guy said, “At the time I was writing it, Pete Doherty was everywhere. It’s either genius marketing or a happy – or unhappy – accident. It’s creative self-destruction in the sense that he’s doing it creatively.”
We don’t think it’s marketing genius at all.
Can dopeheads even think strategically????
Pete just seems like one big cracked out mess, just like Guy’s marriage!
