Drew Carey Breaks Down Remembering Late Ex-Fiancée Amie Harwick: 'I Was So In Love With Her'

Drew Carey breaks down emotionally while remembering Amie Hawrick on his radio show

We can’t even begin to imagine what Drew Carey — and the rest of Amie Harwick‘s loved ones — must be going through right now.

The popular host of The Price Is Right has been reeling since his ex-fiancée was allegedly murdered by an ex-boyfriend at her Hollywood Hills home last week. Carey and the well-known sex therapist had dated seriously in the past, and gotten engaged in 2017, but broke things off a year later.

Even after the breakup, the popular TV host and the therapist were still on very good terms, though. And after hearing Drew open up about it on this past week’s episode of his Sirius XM radio show, it’s clear he’s absolutely devastated that the world has lost such an amazing person in such a manner.

Speaking to his listeners on Friday night’s new episode of Drew Carey’s Friday Night Freak-Out, the 61-year-old opened with a moment about his ex-fiancée. In it, the host explained they’d pre-recorded that week’s show — Amie’s death came the day after recording — but he still wanted to acknowledge her passing with a remembrance.

The former Drew Carey Show star explained as much, opening up with this:

“I just wanted to let you know that my ex-fiancée, Amie, who I loved very much, was murdered the day after I recorded this so I didn’t want people to hear this and hear me be happy and fun and think I didn’t know it happened, or something.”

Before really breaking down in tears, audibly crying while talking about Amie:

“Back in September 2018, I was in a beautiful, great, best relationship of my life with a woman named Amie Harwick. She was a sex therapist and mental health advocate. She had a Ph.D. and a master’s degree, and she was beautiful and fun, and cared deeply about people and improving their lives, and was just a joy to be around. I was so in love with her. I just want to say, I’m so broken up. Even after we broke up, we still loved each other very much. Even though we broke up the engagement, I was still so in love with her. And she loved me back.”

Wow. Really, really tough stuff… we feel so awful for Drew.

Carey also explained to listeners that during their relationship, he used to send his show’s setlists to Harwick. So in her honor, all the songs they played that night were ones she loved, and ones that best exemplified the former couple’s love.

“All these songs were so important to us and I want to play them for you,” Carey added, his voice still fraught with emotion, “so you can hear how much we loved each other through these songs.”

“This next set is for Amie Harwick – a beautiful person who didn’t deserve to die like she did.”

What a powerful, emotional moment.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Drew, as well as with all of Amie’s other friends, family, and loved ones. We can’t even imagine losing somebody in a manner like this. Ugh…
