Professional Skateboarder Dylan Rieder 'Wanted His Life Back' Prior To Losing His Battle With Leukemia

Many are still shaken by the untimely passing of professional skateboarder and model Dylan Rieder.
As we previously reported, the California native passed away on October 12 after losing his battle with leukemia. He was 28-years-old.
This tragic loss has inspired those close to Dylan to offer their condolences to the pro athlete’s family — including Tony Hawk, Ryan Sheckler, and Cara Delevingne.

On Rieder’s death, Hawk noted to People:

“He had style and grace that most of us can only wish for.”

In fact, as Dylan began to prepare for the end over 50 friends flew in from around the country to be by his side. Mark Oblow, Dylan’s longtime mentor and manager, shared with the mag:

“We were there to watch him take his last breath. I walked over and gave him a kiss on the forehead and pulled his eyelids down and said ├óΓé¼╦£See you at the next one buddy.'”

How heartbreaking. As you may recall, the up-and-comer was first diagnosed with cancer back in July 2014. Of course, the diagnosis was quite a shock as Dylan was “in the best shape of his life”.

In regards to how the model told his BFF about his leukemia, Oblow reflected:

“He was crying, and that was really hard to hear. It was very shocking hearing what was coming out of his mouth and hearing him cry. He was an emotional person, but not a person that would call crying. So I knew that there was something. He was scared.”

Still, Dylan put up quite a fight as he went into remission twice after receiving two bone marrow transplants from his sister Makenna. Tragically, the cancer did come back for a final time.
Nonetheless, the beloved skater didn’t let his leukemia bring him down as he regularly spent time at the beach and going on adventures with friends. The industry expert added:

“He had a really good last couple of adventures. He just wanted his life back.”

We’re gonna need someone to pass us a tissue ASAP. Thankfully, Rieder will finally find peace as his memorial service and funeral are in the works for sometime next week. Mark concluded:
