Elijah Wood has a very busy career so, being a responsible adult, he hasn’t taken on the commitment of owning a pet. Though he is still an animal lover.
He said:
“Unfortunately, I myself don├óΓé¼Γäót have a pet. But I├óΓé¼Γäóm an uncle to several. I look after my brother├óΓé¼Γäós dog part of the time.”
Seeing as how he plays a penguin in Happy Feet 2 he really has to know animals. He even visited a zoo to study the animals.
“I first went to a penguin exhibit at the San Diego Zoo. Also one at Sea World. The charming creatures stand tall. Upright. Perfect posture. They├óΓé¼Γäóre curious. Their personality is adorable. And docile. Not aggressive. You can pet them.”
He really enjoyed working on the movie in the studio as well, because unlike many animated films, the cast recorded their parts together.
“In the movie Matt Damon and Brad Pitt play krill. There was also Pink and Robin Williams and all of us recording at one time facing one another in a recording studio in Sydney where director George Miller├óΓé¼Γäós based.
This was an uncommon animation. All of us in one room looking at one another. This way my character, for instance, could react strikingly to another character.
At one point I didn├óΓé¼Γäót give the reading George wanted so, suddenly, while I├óΓé¼Γäóm working, without warning he grabbed my leg, and the collaborative effect created the certain kind of reaction he wanted. It totally worked.”
Sounds amazing. Such a fun environment AND he got to hang out with big celebs AND he got to pet penguins.
Sounds like the best job in the world.
