Ellen DeGeneres isn’t going anywhere!
Fans of The Ellen DeGeneres Show can sleep easy knowing that she’s staying on the air for at least three more years!

The longtime host announced the exciting news on-air Tuesday:
“From the beginning, I said that this show was going to be like a relationship. We have been through the good, the bad, the Fifty Shades of Grey phase, and it’s been a lot of fun, and 16 years is a pretty good run. Sometimes in a relationship, you need to take a break. But I don’t, you’re stuck with me because I just signed for three more years.”
Yay!
Miz DeGeneres continued with a smile on her face:
“I really had no idea what this show was going to be when we started, I had gone through a tough time, I had lost my career for a little while. This show was my second chance, and it turns out, it also helped other people go through a tough time. And I got letters from people telling me that I helped them go through chemo, and that they were inspired by one of my guests, or watching the show made them laugh for the very first time in a long time, and that’s why I’m going to keep doing this show, for people like you.”

It was previously rumored that the TV veteran was being ousted from the show for a fresher face, but we’re so glad she’s sticking around!
As we reported exclusively, insiders spilled in April that if the 61-year-old was going off the air, she’d want to pick her successor and be involved in the new show, possibly as a producer. We were told at the time she had conversations with possible replacements, including Katy Perry, Mario Lopez, and Sean Hayes, but was ultimately “grooming” Kelly Clarkson to take over.
Luckily, we don’t have to pick! The American Idol alum is gearing up for the September launch of her own new daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, though it was rumored that she could be taking over the comedienne’s time slot if Ellen were to end her reign.
We can’t wait for all the jump scares and jokes to come over the next three (or more) years!
