Endangered Pocket Mouse Grabs A Late Night Snack

Cute endangered pocket mouse grabs a late night snack!!

San Diego Zoo Safari Park has the cutest little resident!

It’s a Pacific Pocket Mouse and it’s the cutest lil guy EVER!

He was spotted recently (above) enjoying a late night lettuce snack (cause he’s nocturnal), and just being generally super adorbz.

What’s extra special about this little cutie is he’s part of the first-ever breeding program for his critically endangered species!

The program seems to be a booming success: it’s yielded five litters of lil mousies since June!

What’s super cool about these tiny guys (most weight less than 9 grams) is that they don’t drink water! Like, ever!

Say whaaaat? How do they survive??

These tiny mice are hydrated by the food they eat! Lettuce is basically made almost entirely of water so that makes total sense!

So cool! Thank goodness for that breeding program! We want tons of cute mice running around, not drinking water and just being super adorbzable!!
