FIFA! What do you think you’re doing??
Apparently, the 2022 World Cup, one of the largest sporting events in the world, is going to be changing things up a little…
Instead of being held in June/July, it’s going to be held in the winter!
Say whaaaaat??
Yup, the winter. The problem is the World Cup game is going to be played in Qatar in the Middle East and it gets impossibly hot there.
So hot that they’re worried they won’t actually be able to play the game!
The Secretary General of FIFA, Jerome Valcke, said:
“The dates for the World Cup (in Qatar) will not be June to July. To be honest, I think it will be held between November 15 and January 15 at the latest.
If you play between November 15 and the end of December that’s the time when the weather conditions are best, when you can play in temperatures equivalent to a warm spring season in Europe, averaging 25 degrees.
That would be perfect for playing football.”
We guess if it’s good for football it must be good for soccer too! LOLz!
The problem with this is it’s going to throw off the schedules of several other international leagues.
And now they’re bending over backwards to accommodate a country who should’ve had the tournament taken away from. Instead, they’re inconveniencing everyone.
We bet Qatar has deeeeeep pockets.
