As if this whole pointless tragedy needed to get any uglier.
During the funeral today for murdered Ugandan gay rights activist David Kato, a local pastor apparently crashed the ceremony, took the microphone, and used it to criticize homosexuality.
He reportedly said:
“The world has gone crazy. People are turning away from the scriptures. They should turn back, they should abandon what they are doing. You cannot start admiring a fellow man. It is ungodly.├óΓé¼┬¥
Luckily, gay activists lashed back, and forcibly took back the microphone, so one woman could respond:
“Who are you to judge others? We have not come to fight. You are not the judge of us. As long as he’s gone to God his creator, who are we to judge Kato?”
Just awful.
Ultimately, villagers refused to bury Kato’s body, and his friends were forced to do it himself.
So unfair that such a heroic and brave man, who brutally lost his life refusing to give up on what he believed in, would still have to endure this kind of bigotry and hatred after his passing.
Your sacrifice will not be forgotten, bb. Please, may you have the opportunity to finally R.I.P.
