Now that’s how you make an entrance!
Finding Dory dominated the box office this weekend — which was more or less expected.
But what NOBODY expected was just how much money it racked up. We’re talking Biggest. Animated. Opening. Ever!!!

That’s right — the sequel to Finding Nemo set an ALL-TIME box office record for an animated film’s opening weekend when it pulled in $136.2 million over the last couple days in theaters!!
That total absolutely blows by the previous record holder, Shrek The Third, which did $121.6 million back in ’07.
It also blows by Toy Story 3 — which had previously been Pixar‘s highest-grossing animated film on an opening weekend when it did $110 million in 2010.
Considering Toy Story 3 ended up doing a whopping $415 million across its run six years ago, who knows how big Finding Dory is going to be when it’s all said and done!

That wasn’t even the only good news in Hollywood, though — Central Intelligence opened in theaters, too, and racked up $34.5 million.
That’s nothing compared to Dory, of course, but considering expectations for the Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kevin Hart-led flick, that’s a really solid total for it, too!
Good weekend at the box office… absolutely. GREAT weekend for Disney and Pixar… um, duh!!
