Remember that time the South wanted to succeed from the rest of the United States?
Well, it’s kinda sorta happening again except only in the state of Florida!
Officials have filed a resolution in South Miami to try and get South Florida to split from North Florida and become it’s own state all together!
Say whaaaaaaaaaaat?!
Apparently, the resolution has passed 3-2, which means it will be voted on in all the counties that would be included within the new state.
The resolution, which was proposed by Vice Mayor Walter Harris and is supported by South Miami Mayor Philip Stoddard, would include 24 counties total.
Phillip spoke pretty colorfully about how the creation of two states would be good for the environment and for the citizens of the state!
He said:
‘It’s very apparent that the attitude of the northern part of the state is that they would just love to saw the state in half and just let us float off into the Caribbean. They’ve made that abundantly clear every possible opportunity and I would love to give them the opportunity to do that.’
WHOA! Those are some scathing remarks about Tallahassee aka the state’s capital/where funding comes from!
What do YOU think? Is this a good idea for the state of Florida?
