Fox is pushing the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences for an Best Supporting Actor Oscar nod for Andy Serkis and his role in Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
But Serkis’s face never on screen.
Fox CEO Tom Rothman is asking the Academy to consider Serkis who he feels was snubbed for his work on the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Serkis is famous for his motion capture roles.
Having played Gollum in LOTR, Serkis played Caesar, the main chimp in the Apes flick.
Rothman said the following about Serkis’s push:

I think we may be at the place where we will see a first-ever in Hollywood this year, which is to see Andy Serkis get nominated for a best supporting actor for Planet of the Apes, even though his face never actually appears. But his performance appears, so we are going to push that hard.

Oscar hasn’t been kind of motion-capture actors.
Avatar broke box office records and received nine Oscar nods. None of which included acting nominations.
Do U think an actor should get a nod without showing his face?
