Counseling Is Being Offered For ‘Game Of Thrones’ Fans In Need Of Therapy After The Upcoming Series Finale!

Game Of Thrones fans offered counseling for series finale

Have the latest episodes of Game of Thrones left you feeling troubled, helpless, or on the brink of madness?
Don’t suddenly snap and unleash fiery hell onto the innocent victims around you just yet — professionals are here to help!
Online local services marketplace Bark.com just launched a GoT counseling service ahead of the acclaimed series’ finale this Sunday to help fans who are having trouble coping with all the twists and turns that have being going down in the final season.
According to a statement from Bark, counselors who are familiar with the show will be offering their services to talk with fans about how they feel regarding the upcoming series finale starting May 20, the day after the final episode airs on HBO.

Fans will be able to discuss how they feel about various plot points and storylines with these trained professionals, who will provide expert advice on how disgruntled viewers can cope with the show’s loss and all the emotions that have bubbled up from what is expected to be a tragic ending for some of Westeros’ most beloved characters.
Kai Feller, co-founder of Bark, said in a statement:

Game of Thrones is one of the most popular TV programs of our time, so I’m not surprised that people are devastated it’s going to end. I think there will be a fair amount of superfans out there who will need to chat with a professional when the show ends.”

That’s an understatement.
As we reported, fans exploded with rage following Sunday’s penultimate episode, which saw [SPOILERS] everyone’s favorite hero Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) descending — rather suddenly — into madness and destroying King’s Landing with her dragon.
Many viewers felt that the character pivot was too abrupt for Dany, who had spent the previous seven seasons saying how she wanted to create a better world free of tyrants.

Most of the blame fell on show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, whom many fans felt sacrificed the integrity of Dany’s character for a rushed ending that could have been Shakespearean had it been executed properly.

Foreshadowing is not the same as character development.

This alleged mishandling of Dany even caused fans to start a petition calling for HBO to re-do season 8 with “competent writers.” Marilyn Marnell, one of the over 500,000 fans who signed the petition, wrote:

“Season 8 was very disjointed and rushed. Characters were hastily written off and plots became twisted. It was not a good close to a great series!!!”

Clearly, people are upset — and Bark is anticipating that even more will fall into despair once the series comes to a bitter end.

Lynette, a counselor from Bark, explained to press:

“It’s not unusual for people to get attached to storylines and characters from TV programs and films. We watch them to escape our daily lives and immerse ourselves into the ‘unknown’. This is the very reason why we sometimes become addicted to watching them: the stories they tell become part of our identity.”

The service will allow fans to connect with qualified counselors for either 30-minute or hour-long sessions, which are said to cost approximately $25 and $50 respectively. You can book a session here.
