'Game Of Thrones' Star Lena Headey Shares Emotional Farewell To Her Character: 'I Loved Her'

Game Of Thrones stars say goodbye to the show.

If you’re still shocked, disappointed, or completely unhinged after Sunday’s penultimate episode of Game of Thrones, just know that you’re not alone!
A large chunk of the HBO show’s fan base is still pretty pissed about the way two major characters, [SPOILERS AHEAD!] Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) were hastily killed off, with seemingly little to no regard for series-long story arcs and foreshadowed prophecies.
(Seriously, you wanna hold on to a madness trope but drop all the other foreshadowing? Yet another reasons things don’t make sense!)
But regardless of how we may feel about it, the truth remains the same. With just one episode left to go for GOT, we have to face the fact that the show is almost over!

On Monday, Headey took to Instagram to say her final goodbye to her character Cersei who literally went out with a bang as the walls of the Red Keep came crashing down on her and Jaime during the Mad Queen’s attack.
She began her series of farewell posts with the black-and-white, plain clothes shot (below):

Speaking candidly of her experience as Westeros’ most-hated, the actress wrote:

“There she goes. It’s been fun, and bonkers. I loved her. I am grateful for the opportunity. Massively thankful for your encouraging and supportive love along the way. And now her watch is ended (I know she’d never make it, Nights watch wouldn’t have her.. but still..) ??????”

Lena also gave a shout out to Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel who played Missandei, Queen Daenerys’ loyal and multilingual bestie, in a separate post. As die-hard fans of the show already know, Headey’s character mercilessly executed Missandei in front of her enemies and kick-started the Last War in episode four.

And her caption read:

“Beautiful @nathalieemmanuel You represented hope and true strength. I didn’t like that day up there.”

Awww! This is a much more sentimental side of Cers– *ehem* Lena than we’re used to seeing!
And of course, the fallen Queen of The Seven Kingdoms showed major love to her on-screen brother and lovers played by Coster-Waldau and Pilou Asbaek (Euron Greyjoy, who also died!) with a little BTS from their days on set.

Ugh, we’re still not ready for this show to be over…

Take a look at more farewell posts from the stars we lost in episode five (below):

Siblings and lovers, for life!

And Pilou shared:

That final face-off between these two was something else!

Thoughts, Perezcious readers? Have you warmed up to the way Cersei’s storyline ended? Still gutted over the fact that GOT is ending? We want to hear it all!
