Gay Nebraska Woman's Attackers Carve Homophobic Slurs Into Her Skin!

Gay Nebraska woman attacked and carved in hate crime
Awful! Just…awful.
While the tragic massacre in Aurora, Colorado last Friday has the most people talking, another horrific crime has made national headlines.
A woman who identified as a lesbian was attacked in her Lincoln, Nebraska home on Sunday morning by three masked intruders. She was bound, beaten and stripped naked before the sick, twisted criminals carved hateful words like “dyke” into her skin and then set her home on fire.
Luckily, she managed to escape and get to a neighbors house to receive help. Unfortunately, her attackers — who also spray painted homophobic slurs (above) on her basement walls — are still at large.
Although we’re deeply saddened to hear that hate crimes like this are still occurring in the country, at least over 500 people cared enough about equality to attend a candlelight vigil in support of the victim that same evening.
Karen Bratton-Cranford, an out and proud lesbian at the vigil, said:

“I’m not going back in the closet. You’re not going to scare me back.├óΓé¼┬¥

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the anonymous victim. It’s absolutely terrifying that the LGBT community faces this kind of danger in this day and age, but we must ALL be proud of who we are and not let fear determine our future.
We hope the three men responsible for this brutal crime are caught ASAP and brought to justice for their deplorable actions!
