no title
As you surely know by now, Meryl Streep called out Donald Trump during her AH-Mazing speech at the Golden Globes for mocking a disabled reporter.

Well Donald, being the immature p*ssy grabbing troll he is, responded on Twitter by calling Meryl “over-rated.” HA!
As you can imagine, SEVERAL celebs took to social media to defend the 19 time nominated, 3 time Oscar winner — but some of Meryl’s non-Twitter using friends had some words too!
Following Trump’s tweets, both George Clooney and Robert De Niro addressed the ABSURD bullying claims made by the future POTUS in their own ways!
Knowing that Bobby does NOT like Donald at all, it’s no surprise he wrote a WONDERFUL note to Miz Streep in support of her speech! The touching letter, which was obtained by People, reads:

Meryl –
What you said was great. It needed to be said, and you said it beautifully. I have so much respect for you that you did it while the world was celebrating your achievements. I share your sentiments about punks and bullies. Enough is enough. You, with your elegance and intelligence, have a powerful voice – one that inspires others to speak up as they should so their voices will be heard too. It is so important that we ALL speak up.
We love you.
Bob

As for the Ocean’s Eleven actor, he addressed the controversy during a reception hosted by The Clooney Foundation for Justice on Monday night. During the event, which was held in support of the Netflix documentary White Helmets — a film about Syrians that help victims hit by bombs in the country — George joked:

“I’ve always said that about Meryl. She’s maybe the most overrated actress of all-time. She and I worked together on Fantastic Mr. Fox as husband and wife and I will tell you even as a fox, a female fox, she’s overrated.”

The 55-year-old continued by blasting Trump, saying:

“Aren’t you supposed to be running the country?”

Following the screening, Amal Clooney‘s husband had an extremely positive message for the crowd as he said:

“The reality is that bad things happen when the lights have been turned off. That’s what the bad guys want. You have to have the lights on, and show what this really is, and show that these are human beings and not names and statistics. They are living and surviving and caring for one another. What you are doing is spectacular. Thank you for this.”

The Academy Award winner went on to speak about how most people are actually kind and have good hearts as he said:

“The reality is that the vast majority of human beings are kind and want what’s best for their neighbors, for their children, for their families and also what’s best for their neighbors and people they don’t even know. That is the norm, that’s what’s ordinary and we forget that sometimes. What is extraordinary is these people who put on White Helmets and run towards violence while everyone else is running away from it. Where there is no other structure or society, they are there to protect. And they risk their lives to do it. First and foremost they are heroes.”

Though George was talking about the White Helmets in the movie, the message of positivity can be interpreted as a reminder to stand up to hate and violence with courage!
Such love!
Overall, we couldn’t agree more with George and Robert and hope that Donald’s balls eventually drop and he stops throwing Twitter tantrums EVERY time someone mentions his name in a disparaging way!
What are your thoughts on so many celebs defending Meryl?!
