What’s it like to co-parent with Zayn Malik? Only Gigi Hadid knows so far… but she’s finally ready to talk about it!
The pair dated on and off starting in 2015 and welcomed daughter Khai together in September 2020. However, their romance ended one year later after the former One Direction member got into an altercation with her mother, Yolanda Hadid.
Zayn allegedly struck The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum during an argument at her ranch in Pennsylvania. At the time, Zayn confirmed he got into a disagreement with Yolanda, but he “adamantly” denied hitting her. He also refused to share more details about the incident “for the sake of my daughter.” Later, he pled no contest to four counts of harassment and was placed on a year-long probation, as well as completed an anger management program and a domestic violence course.

Some time after the family drama, Zayn opened up, sharing on Call Her Daddy that co-parenting with Gigi has been great, and that they “have a really good relationship for Khai.” But does she feel the same way? Is everything all “good” between them these days? It seems that way!
Gigi opened up to Vogue in an interview published on Tuesday about raising her 4-year-old daughter with the singer, saying:
“Zayn and I do our custody schedules months in advance. That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t change here and there, but we help each other out and have each other’s backs.”
They “have each other’s backs”? After their nasty breakup, that is so great to hear!
Gigi shared that she and Zayn entered a new era of their partnership, one full of “love and a feeling of camaraderie.” And what they are interested in now is working together to raise Khai — and that’s it. The parents know the public will most likely scrutinize their relationship forever, but they aren’t sharing whatever happened between them in the past with the world. Gigi said:
“There is the hard part of the world knowing this much, and thinking they know everything. And at the end of the day, we’re not interested in giving everyone our whole story. What we are interested in is raising our daughter together, with so much respect for each other, and not just as co-parents, but what we’ve been through together.”
