For playing an incredibly passionate pianist, he won Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture — Musical Or Comedy, beating out Colin Farrell for The Lobster, Hugh Grant for Florence Foster Jenkins, Jonah Hill for War Dogs, and Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool.

But in his acceptance speech, he gave such a sweet, emotional speech it made us realize he wasn’t acting in La La Land at all — he’s just that romantic! Ha!
