Gorillas Destroy Traps After Poachers Kill Their Friend!

Gorillas

This is absolutely ahmayzing!!

At Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, two young mountain gorillas were spotted doing something incredible├óΓé¼┬ª

They were dismantling traps set by poachers!!

The pair of young apes were spotted taking apart snares after one of their own was killed by a trap!

They’re so crazy smart!!

A program coordinator at the reserve where this all went down said:

“This is absolutely the first time that we’ve seen juveniles doing that… I don’t know of any other reports in the world of juveniles destroying snares. We are the largest database and observer of wild gorillas, so I would be very surprised if somebody else has seen that.”

Bush-meat hunters set tons of rope-and-branch snares in the national park, trying to catch antelope and other species.

They’re not even going for the apes.

Sadly, some gorillas get caught and though the older ones are strong enough to break free, the juveniles often slowly die from snare related injuries.

It’s believed that the gorillas might have learned how to destroy the traps after watching park rangers do the same.

We’re glad these gorillas are taking the fight into their own hands!! Go, apes, go!!
