Connie Britton is paying tribute to Hayden Panettiere.
On Monday, The While Lotus alum took to Instagram to recognize the immense loss of her longtime Nashville co-star. Alongside several photos of the pair, Connie wrote:
“This was Hayden. Bursting with brilliance, shining so bright. I have no words for this sad song. Just heartbreak.”
So, so sad.
Connie concluded her post:
“I love you girl. Sleep easy now.

On Sunday, news broke that Hayden tragically and suddenly passed away. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office in South Carolina has since confirmed “no signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death” at the time of her autopsy.
In Hayden’s recently-released memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, she opened up about her dynamic with Connie in the long-running show, where she played a rising star alongside Connie’s more established country crooner:
“My character wasn’t intended to be the show’s star — not even close. That honor went to Connie, whose Rayna Jaymes was in the twilight of her career, facing a dramatic turning point thanks to yours truly.”
She continued:
“Unfortunately, after the pilot, it was clear that my billing had gone way up. I went from maybe number five in terms of importance to nipping at Connie’s heels. I was deeply uncomfortable with this development. I was 23 years old, and Connie was in her 40s with three Emmy nominations under her belt. This should have been her time to shine.”
It’s clear how much love and admiration these two had for one another.
Our hearts continue to be with Hayden’s loved ones as they navigate this shocking loss. Rest in peace.
