Hayden Panettiere is opening up about the devastating moment she found out her younger brother died.
As Perezcious readers may remember, Jansen Panettiere unexpectedly passed away in February 2023 from aortic valve complications and an undiagnosed enlarged heart. He was only 28 years old. How heartbreaking. He was so young.

Hayden recalled the tragedy in her new book, This Is Me: A Reckoning, saying she first heard about Jansen’s death from her dad. The actress wrote in the memoir that he called her and said these words:
“Jansen’s dead. My boy is dead.”
Oof. That is gut-wrenching. Hayden shared that she immediately began asking him what happened, questioning if Jansen died by suicide, had a medical emergency, or if foul play had been involved. And eventually, she realized she would have to call her estranged mother, Lesley Vogel, with the horrible news. The Bring It On: All or Nothing star also expressed that she soon felt calm during this difficult time, explaining that the only reason she got through it was because of her years in treatment.
