SPOILER ALERT: Hillary is totally for same-sex marriage, as she should be!
On Friday, were beyond thrilled to announce that the New York state Senate voted in favor of same-sex legislation, thanks to four Republican senators who joined with their Democratic counterparts to recognize the right of ALL New Yorkers to the protections and privileges that come with civil marriage.
This morning, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke up about NY’s landmark decision in an address to State Department group Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies. Here’s what she had to say about it:
“[The win in New York] gives such visibility and credibility to everything that so many of you have done over so many years.”
“I look out at this audience, and I see a lot of familiar faces, of people who have been on the front lines for many years and have worked so diligently and smartly for the progress that we are seeing.”
“This is a human rights issue…Just as I was very proud to say the obvious more than 15 years ago in Beijing ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ that human rights are women├óΓé¼Γäós rights, and women├óΓé¼Γäós rights are human rights ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ well, let me say today that human rights are gay rights, and gay rights are human rights, once and for all.”
Couldn’t have said it better ourselves! Thanks for the support, Hillary! We’re very excited for the progress to continue!
EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL!
