There’s really no easy way to break the news to your child.
Here’s how David Arquette says he and Courteney broke the news about their split to their 6-year-old daughter, Coco:
“We went to a beach and had a picnic. [I] explained to her that we’re grownups, and a lot of the time when grownups are growing up, they need to figure out their lives…sometimes that takes each other having a little space.”
More from David about Coco’s reaction:
“She said, ‘Are you guys getting a divorce?’ I said, ‘No, We’re not getting a divorce, we’re just taking some time apart to get to know ourselves better and get to know what we want out of our mate better.”
Sounds like you dealt with this in a very mature fashion, David.
We wish Coco the absolute best during what must be a tough transition period for her.
