Have Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster been cheating… for years?
As Perezcious readers know, last month, Sutton filed for divorce from her husband Ted Griffin. This comes after rumors started swirling that she had been hooking up with her The Music Man co-star. They worked on the show from December 2021 to January 2023 and got SUPER close, sparking a rumored secret romance. In Touch first reported the Deadpool & Wolverine star was “romancing” Sutton in December 2023 — but it might’ve been going on even earlier than that!

On Thursday’s episode of the Deux U podcast, DeuxMoi dished:
“Apparently, allegedly, whatever is going on or has transpired between Hugh and Sutton has been doing so since 2022. That’s the rumor.”
In a clip from a previous episode posted to Instagram earlier this week, the blogger read a blind item she received in December of 2023. By the way, that’s just a few months after Hugh divorced his wife Deborra-Lee Furness in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage. At the time, a tip read:
“A certain singing hairy superhero recently announced his divorce after 20+ years of marriage. Who else has just separated from her husband? His Broadway leading lady. Coincidence? I don’t think so.”
For the record, Sutton didn’t announce her split until she filed for divorce in late October 2024. That’s almost a YEAR after this blind item. Sure, it’s possible she and the screenwriter broke up a long time ago and have just kept it private until now, but the timing is sus! You can’t entirely rule out a possible cheating scandal. With that in mind, another source claimed this WAS a complicated love affair, dishing:
“Hugh and Deb got divorced after she found out about Sutton. For the sake of her family, she didn’t tell the tabloids.”
Oof. Brutal!
This is also not the first time we’ve heard that Deb was suspicious of Hugh’s relationship with Sutton. Uh-oh…
BTW, in July 2022 while on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Sutton revealed she and her on-stage love interest started a pre-show ritual called “carpet chat” where they would hang out in her dressing room before a performance, usually ending up sitting on the floor chatting. She said the intimate hangouts helped them become “really good friends,” adding:
“That’s been one of the best parts of the whole thing, that I’ve made this wonderful new friend.”
So that easily could’ve been the starting point for this romance! In this week’s episode, Deux added that a source reached out to her with info on the couple, she explained:
“It’s things that fans have noticed. Again, fans are so much smarter at picking up clues than I think celebrities give them credit for. There were some pictures of Hugh, I think back in 2022 in Arizona, with a similar background. He posted and then Sutton posted. Not together, separately. But they matched up the backgrounds, so the fans were like they must have been together in Arizona back then. Things like that. So, that’s what this person meant, just a lot of clues that put them together at the same place, same time.”
She added that the romance was “an open secret amongst Broadway insiders” but her co-host suggested it could’ve been an emotional affair before it was physical. Interestingly, the Anon Pls. author added:
“I also heard that there was allegedly gonna be a statement made at the end of last year and it just never happened. So, now that more people are talking about it, I don’t know.”
Hmm… They obviously couldn’t have announced they were dating if Sutton was still married, so we wonder what that was all about! Now that they’ve both filed for divorce, though, it’s a lot easier to come clean about their chemistry, even if they avoid discussing whether or not it was a cheating scandal. So, maybe they’ll speak out soon?
If the couple is still together, the podcasters speculated on the possibility of them launching the romance over the holidays, when people are distracted. The blogger noted:
“If they’re as into each other as people are saying, I feel like it’s not over. […] The impression that I got, like I said, from people is that they were very close and very into each other. Whether that be, like you said, in an emotional way or physical way or both, I don’t know. But my prediction is it’s not over.”
A Page Six insider previously said the pair “want to spend the rest of their lives together,” so it doesn’t sound over at all! This has really gotten messy, though!
