Svenn Koppler, a 37-year-old German man, has agreed to plead guilty to smuggling hundreds of tarantulas into the United States by mail and allegedly made over $300,000!
Koppler sent 240 live tarantulas from Germany to Los Angeles last year and sold them to people in dozens of countries.
He could face up to 20 years in federal prison since being caught by Fish and Wildlife Service agents who intercepted the packages then posed as customers and ordered dozens more to catch the man in the act.
If we see any giant tarantulas crawling around this town, we’ll know exactly who to blame!
