This is beyond infuriating…
Donald Trump signed tons of executive orders his first days in office, many generally destructive — like gutting the FAA and airplane safety. But he also signed some that were much more specifically cruel — like forcing the government to recognize only two genders: male and female. Even worse, and proving this is targeting the trans community, your only recognized gender is the one you’re assigned at birth — no matter if you identify that way or not!
So awful, truly. And it’s already affecting real people.

Hunter Schafer took to her TikTok to share that her passport now lists her as MALE due to Trump’s order. She said in the video:
“As a result of [the executive order], which I wrote down because I want to get it right, the Bureau of Consular Affairs has frozen passport applications requesting a gender marker change or renewals or new applications with a gender marker deferring from an applicant’s gender assigned at birth.”
The transgender Euphoria star admitted at first she was doubtful the order would actually go into action because Trump “is a lot of talk”. Yeah, been hearing that a lot lately — largely from farmers who voted for him and are losing their businesses.
Sadly every worst fear of a Trump presidency is rapidly coming to pass, including this emotional gut punch for trans folks. Hunter lamented:
“And today, I saw it on my new passport: male.”
Explaining the situation further, the 26-year-old said all her gender markers were changed “in her teens” so it shouldn’t be a problem, right? Wrong. After having her passport “stolen” on a trip to Barcelona, she had to get a new passport. And thanks to Trump, she can’t get the correct gender marker on the new one:
“So as soon as I got back to the States, I had to get this fixed and get [my temporary passport] replaced with a real, proper passport, which I went to the Federal Passport Agency today in L.A. and did. I’ve had to do this one time before, no part of the process was different. I filled everything out just like I normally would, I put female, and when it was picked up today and I opened it up, they had changed the marker to male.”
Ugh! Ridiculous!
The actress said she didn’t want to “create drama or receive consolation” but she wanted to speak on “the reality of the situation, in that it is actually happening”:
“And I was shocked, because I don’t know, I just didn’t think it was actually going to happen.”
In a warning to other people this might affect, she said:
“I never had my birth certificate changed, so this has led me to believe that I think the agencies who are in charge of passports and this sort of thing are now required to cross reference birth certificates or, I don’t know exactly what changed as far as the processing goes, but this is the first time this has happened to me since I changed my gender marker.”
Nearly a decade after she changed her gender marker, and now it’s suddenly changed back. The model said she’s “sort of scared of the way this stuff slowly gets implemented”. But despite the frustrations, she’s not letting this get her down:
“I also want to say, I don’t give a f**k that they put a M on my passport. It doesn’t change really anything about me or my transness, however it does make life a little harder. Personally, I mean I haven’t tested it out yet, I’ll found out next week when I have to travel abroad with my new passport, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to come along with having to out myself to like border patrol agents and that whole gig much more often than I would like to or is really necessary.”
Hunter later wrapped up her thoughts by saying of our current administration:
“Trans people are beautiful. We are never going to stop existing, I am never going to stop being trans, a letter on a passport can’t change that. And f**k this administration. I don’t really have an answer on what to do about this but I feel it was important to share. This is real. So um yeah, f**k.”
