Idaho Woman Faces 10 Years In Prison For Stealing Beer

And it wasn’t even the good shiz!

A 35-year-old woman in Idaho faces 10 years in jail for her sticky fingers. Reportedly, Victoria Hill of Boise was caught slipping a 24-ounce can of Steel Reserve beer into her purse and was stopped by authorities when she left the store without paying for it.

Upon arrest, Hill was charged with felony burglary for entering the store with “the intent to commit a theft.” If found guilty, she can be sentenced to no less than one year in the clink and a max of 10 years.

Ten years for a lousy can of beer? Are there not a lot of criminals in Boise that you’ve got to throw this woman in prison for something so harmless? True, she should be punished for stealing, we agree. But fine her or make her go to AA (we imagine she needs it) or give her some community service.

The punishment just doesn’t seem to fit the crime, if you ask us.

Then again, to play devil’s advocate, this is apparently not the first time she’s gotten grabby with things that aren’t hers. She was arrested a time before for stealing and was charged with grand theft. So, maybe she hasn’t learned her lesson. Still don’t think she should get 10 years in prison though.
