We’re sensing a theme here!
Iggy Azalea appears in the October issue of Nylon magazine, going wild in a variety of leopard print outfits.
And it’s ALL leopard print! Jackets, skirts, tops, vests — nothing is left unspotted!
The blonde bombshell works it in the leopard overload, but also talks at length about her thoughts on fashion and self-expression through clothing.
As you could probably tell from her Work video, Iggy is more than a little into designer duds. She said:
“I think it├óΓé¼Γäós really important├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥fashion. But, I love fashion in the costume-y way. Not to say that how I dress is a costume├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥I would dress like this any day├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥but I love movie characters, and I love the fashion of costumes and characters more than I├óΓé¼Γäód like to look at a runway. I think I feel more inspired by movies than I do by watching Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. That├óΓé¼Γäós just how I honestly feel. So, I think fashion is important because fashion is clothing, but I don├óΓé¼Γäót necessarily think seasonal fashion is important. I think just finding moments in clothing and looks, and creating characters and stories through clothing is important.”
And she describes her own style thusly:
“I think it├óΓé¼Γäós probably playful, bold and maybe a little wacky. It├óΓé¼Γäós pretty wacky. I love a good print. A good print and a nice tailored suit, and some element of something unexpected, like a boot so that you├óΓé¼Γäóre like, ├óΓé¼┼ôWoah! I didn├óΓé¼Γäót think that would happen with that.├óΓé¼┬¥ I hate when I look at magazines and I see an outfit and it makes sense. I just like unexpected things, in music or in life, and I think it├óΓé¼Γäós nice to see a little twist to an outfit that makes something personalized that shows the person├óΓé¼Γäós character. When I see people walk down the street, and I think they look like the E! News channel├óΓé¼Γäós wardrobe, I just think it├óΓé¼Γäós so depressing. It├óΓé¼Γäós nice to be put together, but I├óΓé¼Γäód rather see somebody look completely insane or wacky. I think it├óΓé¼Γäós memorable. It├óΓé¼Γäós cool.”
Unlike other celebs, however, she doesn’t have a color-coordinated, giant walk-in closet. She explained:
“I don├óΓé¼Γäót even have a closet. This is my situation and how it works; I don├óΓé¼Γäót have a house or home, so I├óΓé¼Γäóve been kind of living in hotels. I have like six main suitcases, but three of them live in England, the other three travel with me. I go through clothing. I├óΓé¼Γäóll have the same clothing for a few goes, but the three main working suitcases slowly made their way to not being worn so much. Every month, someone will go through it and pack it into boxes, and they will go into storage. I have a storage container full of shit that kind of keeps growing like that. Somewhere, there├óΓé¼Γäós like a fucking nest of boxes in a room in LA in a storage unit, and it├óΓé¼Γäós full of what is my wardrobe that I├óΓé¼Γäóve been collecting.”
Her fave designers are the bombastic ones, of course. She admitted:
“For casual days, I really like a lot of the Givenchy stuff just because I think they have cool prints. I like the tailoring in their pants and stuff. They├óΓé¼Γäóve always got like a nice cut or collar. I think it├óΓé¼Γäós very low-key and cool. I really like Dolce & Gabbana, and I like Cavalli. I like Italian designers because they always have really great prints, and I love a good print and gaudy colors. I like a lot of Italian prints.”
Despite loving fashion, the rapper claims she wouldn’t ever want to start her own line, saying:
“No, I know absolutely nothing about it. I├óΓé¼Γäóm sure everybody would be completely offended if I did that.”
Never say never, Iggy!
