Isla Fisher Opens Up About ‘Most Difficult’ Sacha Baron Cohen Divorce And Where She Stands On Dating

Isla Fisher is opening up about her divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen.

Last year, the Now You See Me star and her husband of 14 years shocked the world after they announced their separation. It came amid the height of his controversy with Rebel Wilson, who made horrifying claims in her memoir Rebel Rising about her experience shooting 2016’s The Brothers Grimsby with him… Though insiders assured that had nothing to do with the divorce.

It’s been almost a year now, and Isla is finally getting candid about how their divorce impacted her and where she stands today.

During an interview with The Times of London published on Saturday, the 49-year-old confessed:

“It’s the most difficult thing that I’ve been through and I’ve learnt so much about myself in the process. I never imagined my family being separated but we are committed and loving parents.”

Awww. Poor Isla. They were together for a LONG time and share three kids! We’re sure it was an incredibly difficult decision and subsequent healing process!

The Wedding Crashers alum opened up about how her own parents’ amicable divorce informed how she chose to go about things:

“It was very harmonious. I don’t ever remember them fighting about anything. They were very inclusive of each other. That’s the dream.”

She added:

“Kids are the most important thing and you want them to really feel safe and loved. We are building a new, healthy version of what our family looks like and putting as much care and love into it as possible.”

That’s so great to hear. And thankfully, Isla has a great group of friends who have been by her side through every step:

“The women in my life have held me … the female relationships that I cultivated in our business, those women have been there for me. I’m actually going to get emotional. I’m sitting here today because of them. I’ve learnt so much about the power of female friendship and I’ve just learnt that I do have resilience, who I am outside of a partnership and what my values are. It’s been this expansive learning curve.”

So sweet! Everyone needs people to lift them up!

As for where her focus us now, she told the outlet:

“I’m trying to readdress my ambition and refocus and get re-inspired for my career.”

The Australian actress has three upcoming film roles — Now You See Me 3, Spa Weekend, and the animated picture, Dog Man… Which her kids are SO excited about! She gushed:

“The trailer came out when we were in the Everyman [movie theater] seeing a movie and my son was like, ‘Mummy, you’re in Dog Man!’ I was like, ‘Don’t cry, Isla.’”

Awww! That’s so heartwarming!

Finally, when it comes to dipping her toe back in the dating pool, Isla told the outlet:

“That’s not on my to-do list. I’m not ready to think about any of that.”

Everything comes in due time!

We’re glad to hear she’s doing well after a rough year. What are your thoughts, Perezcious readers?
