Jada Pinkett Smith is thrilled to see the Academy stepping up!
On Monday, the President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences opened up about the upsetting lack of diversity in this year’s Oscar nominations.
Cheryl Boone Isaacs explained that she’s “heartbroken and frustrated,” but is actually planning on making changes that will hopefully prevent this from happening in the future!

In fact, the Academy head even explained that she’ll be trying to switch up the elite group’s membership, so that diversity is better represented.
And the Gotham alum, who announced she’ll be boycotting the high-profile awards show, is loving Cheryl’s new efforts!
The 44-year-old took to Facebook to respond to her statement, saying:
I would like to express my gratitude to the Academy, specifically Cheryl Boone Isaacs, for such a quick response in regard to the issue at hand. I look forward to the future.

We definitely agree! We’re glad that the film big wigs are working towards change!
Now, we doubt that this praise means the actress will change her mind about attending or watching Hollywood’s big night, but she seems to be happy with the conversation that’s started!
What do U think of her statement, Perezcious readers? SOUND OFF in the comments!
