Meghan Markle’s Apricot Spread is not Jelly Queen approved.
The Duchess of Sussex is facing backlash on yet ANOTHER product — this time instead of for her bath salt recipe, critics are roasting her attempt at jelly. If you haven’t heard of it, Meghan sells an Apricot Spread on her As Ever site, which veteran jam-maker Donna Collins has some choice words for!
On Saturday, the Jelly Queens founder, who’s won several world jam-making competitions, absolutely savaged Meghan’s attempt at fruit preserves. She told DailyMail.com:
“It’s a real disappointment that Meghan is selling a fruit spread, which is what you make when your jam fails. In the jam industry a spread is what we call something that didn’t work.”
Ouch!!! She continued:
“It can have the best ingredients, but if I had a jam that was too runny, I’d slap a label on it and call it a spread. There’s no excuse for this. It should be perfect.”

According to the As Ever website, Meghan’s Apricot Spread is made with “gorgeous fruit and a touch of sweetness, letting the apricot’s bright flavor shine. The smooth texture and gentle tartness pair beautifully with everything from toast to cheese boards.” Its ingredients include “Apricots, Organic Pure Cane Sugar, Dried Organic Apricots, Organic Lemon Juice Concentrate, Filtered Water, Fruit Pectin,” and it retails for $9.00, or for $14.00 in As Ever’s “keepsake packaging.” As of now, the product is sold out on the website.
While the product may sound pretty clean and light, Collins went on to bash some of the specific ingredients:
“Why should she include conventionally grown apricots, which will have used pesticides? And why is she using pectin, which is a gelling agent, unless it’s because her spread was too runny? Most spreads don’t use pectin.”
Damn, she’s REALLY not a fan!
The expert added:
“Her apricot spread sold out in minutes, just like her earlier raspberry spread, which may mean they only made a small batch. I don’t know who’s making her spread, but we all know it’s not Meghan. It sounds like they really don’t know what they are doing.”
Yikes! It can’t be THAT bad, right?? Maybe we need a jam-making showdown between these two ladies!
