Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet may not be part of the royal orbit anymore, but they’ve still got all the privilege that comes with it. And now their parents are doing everything they can to make sure they don’t turn out to be spoiled!
On Tuesday’s episode of Aspire with Emma Grede, the Suits alum said it’s “really important” to the couple to teach the 6-year-old and 4-year-old to “understand the value of things.” Coming from a rich, regal family and living in a bougie Cali community can really make that difficult — so she’s turning to her roots, literally, to instill important life lessons.

The As Ever founder said gardening has been a “great” teaching tool for the littles, noting that they learn “patience and good values and to appreciate their food” through becoming one with nature. And once they have some produce, they even run “a little farmers market stand.” Cute! The 43-year-old shared:
“We grow a lot of veggies and part of what I want them to learn is … you start from seed and you watch it grow. But with that is, ‘Now do you want to sell your harvest? Do you want to share it with our community? And also, what do you want to do with those funds once you have them?’”
This whole process also helps the children learn “counting and numbers and all those things.” At the end of the day, the businesswoman just wants them to “really understand … there is a cost and a price” to everything. She explained:
“I think that’s key. … Especially [for] children who are very lucky to have a home that is privileged. You need to know that — just like manners and taking care of the things around you — there is a value on things.”
The siblings are currently growing up in a $14 million mansion in Montecito. Plus, whether they realize it yet or not, they’re literal royalty. They’re incredibly privileged — so we love that Harry and Meghan are trying to get ahead and find ways to keep them grounded. They’re certainly not the only ones navigating this.
