This might be the last time James Kennedy ever gets an invitation to Kathy Hilton’s annual Christmas party…
Hours before the 32-year-old reality star was arrested for domestic violence, he and his girlfriend, Ally Lewber, attended the bash at The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star’s house in Los Angeles on Tuesday, and he was not on his best behavior the whole night. At first, everything was seemingly fine. An eyewitness even told Us Weekly on Thursday that James “looked like he was in great spirits,” adding:
“[James] and Ally were cuddling together and taking photos. He seemed like he was in a good headspace and was dancing, singing and having fun.”

However, his mood shifted later on in the evening. A second source claimed to the outlet that the Vanderpump Rules alum appeared “mad” while “running” through the event and “causing a huge scene” as his friend chased after him:
“His guy friend was chasing him from Kathy’s basement all the way throughout Kathy’s backyard, and James looked mad while running away. The guy who was chasing him almost fell into the pool and dropped a lantern in the pool causing a huge scene. Everyone was wondering what was going on.”
Whoa…
What happened? Why was he so upset? No answers to those questions right now. A source previously told People he “appeared inebriated,” though. Fans know James has struggled with alcohol abuse in the past and how he acted on camera when he was not sober. Is it possible he fell off the wagon again? Or did something else happen at this party?
Although the first insider alleged James was in “great spirits” at the beginning, the second says that is not the case. They called his behavior “erratic,” claiming James was “in a mood” on the red carpet before the event started and “ran off to get inside the party” to avoid doing interviews. Well, one person can corroborate that James was acting strange at the party! Nick Viall revealed on Thursday’s episode of The Viall Files that he saw a wild incident between Kennedy and a friend he took to the event! According to the Bachelor alum, he and his wife Natalie Joy saw Bravo star and Ally at the party, took a pic with them, and were introduced to his pal — who James called “his best friend.” But then a couple of minutes later, Nick claimed he saw James “barking orders” at this person:
“I’m the only one who saw this. Natalie didn’t even see this. Natalie was immersed in a conversation with the other person we were talking to. James walks by, and then James turns around and he says to his friend — I forgot his friend’s name. Let’s say his friend’s name is Sam. And [James] goes, ‘Sam! Hold this! Now.’ … And his friend just grabbed the drink and James kept walking and I was like … That was insane.”
That is not how you treat a friend… At least NOT how you should! Nick continued:
“I was like, 10 minutes earlier I met this guy who he introduced as his best friend and then 10 minutes later he was barking orders.”

And just hours after the party, Burbank, California, police were dispatched to James’ home after someone allegedly witnessed James grabbing a woman during an argument. Cops did not see any visible injuries on the woman, but they arrested the television personality. It’s unknown if the woman was Ally. She has not spoken out about the incident. For his part, James has addressed the matter via his attorneys. As you can expect, he is hoping the Burbank City Attorney’s Office won’t file charges against him.
