Jamie Foxx’s birthday dinner couldn’t have gone more wrong!
The Django Unchained star turned 57 on Friday and celebrated with a night out at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills with his daughters Corinne and Anelise — but things ended in red and blue flashing lights! TMZ reported he was involved in an altercation at the eatery at around 10:00 p.m. but was gone before cops arrived. It wasn’t immediately clear what went down, but we now have the all the bloody details. On Saturday, a spokesperson for the movie star told the outlet:
“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth.”
Whoa! WTF?!
The insider added:
“He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”
STITCHES?! That glass must have been thrown pretty damn hard! Poor Jamie! He’s been through so much recently!
As for what caused the feud, an eyewitness told the news org a fellow restaurant goer was mouthing off in a vulgar way to the Baby Driver star, who asked them to take it down a notch or two since he was with his family, including his ex Kristin Grannis. That’s allegedly when the unnamed patron threw the glass Jamie’s way. In a news release obtained by People, the Beverly Hills Police Department said:
“Upon investigation, officers determined that the reported assault with a deadly weapon was unfounded. Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between parties. The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery. No arrests were made.”
Crazy!
On Sunday, the Soul star addressed the incident in a lengthy post on Instagram. In a photo upload of a black background, he wrote the following text:
“The devil is busy… but I’m too blessed to be stressed”
He also added in his caption:
“The devil is a lie. Can’t win here… thank you to everybody that pray and check on me… when your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it… the lights have been shining bright…”
What an empowering way for him to look at things! We’re so glad he’s okay!
Referencing his new Netflix stand-up comedy special, he added:
“And huge thank yous to everyone that have watched and been inspired by ‘What Had Happened Was’ … number 1 on @netflix if you haven’t checked it out please go check it out it’s from my heart and my soul…”
