Jamie Foxx‘s health scare last year was so much worse than most realized! Seriously! He almost didn’t make it!
As Perezcious readers know, the actor was hospitalized in 2023 after he experienced a “medical complication” while filming the movie Back In Action in Atlanta. Jamie hasn’t shared many details on the health scare — but he previously said he asked a friend for Advil because he had a headache. The next thing he knew, he woke up in the hospital, and 20 days had passed! While hospitalized, his doctor told the singer that “something’s going on up there,” meaning his head.

However, he didn’t reveal what caused the hospitalization. The theory for a minute was that he had a stroke, which Mike Tyson claimed at first (he later retracted his statement). Producer Choke No Joke then alleged Jamie told the audience at his upcoming Netflix special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was that Diddy “was responsible” for his hospitalization — and wasn’t “joking.” Hmm. Now, we’re finding out more about what the Oscar winner allegedly discussed during the show!
Two fans claimed to CNN on Friday that Jamie opened up in detail about the scary situation, even revealing his diagnosis! What! Finally! However, we may not find out what it is until the special drops on Tuesday! They didn’t spill on what left him in the hospital, but one of them did drop other details about what he allegedly said about the medical nightmare.
Longtime fan Demecos Chambers, who attended the taping in October, claimed Jamie told the crowd that in 2023 “he passed out and remembered waking up,” adding:
“He said it was a near-death experience. He spoke about waking up in the hospital. He thought he just passed out for a second, but it was two or three weeks. He was in a stone-cold coma.”
Whoa…
And this is no exaggeration. It really was a “near-death experience” for Jamie, according to Demecos! Per the fan, Jamie expressed:
“If he didn’t get to the hospital in that moment and the nurse didn’t treat him in a certain timeframe, he said he would have died.”
The In Living Color alum allegedly explained he was “literally within an inch of his life. He was gone. It was lights out.” OMG. Demecos continued:
“His daughter was playing a family guitar and that is what woke him up and kept him alive during his coma. He really worships his daughters. They play a significant part of the show. He says this situation gave him a grander perspective on life and the people around him.”
What a scary situation! Of course, take this with a grain of salt for now. The Netflix special isn’t even out yet. So, we’ll have to wait and see if all this is correct next week. Reactions? Drop ‘em in the comments.
