Janelle Monae would like you to have a seat!
The singer got some unsolicited fashion advice from a fan on Twitter, but she wasn’t having it!

And she told him so!
When the fan in question wrote a comment essentially telling the 29-year-old to “be sexy”:
“@JanelleMonae girl stop being so soulful and be sexy..tired of those dumbass suits..you fine but u too damn soulful man. ├░┼╕╦£ΓÇÖ├░┼╕╦£┬ó”
She replied with this:
@mellow_saa sit down. I’m not for male consumption.

There’s no law that says a female performer has to be “sexy”! And to tell someone to be sexier just to please you is not only rude, but really presumptuous and messed up!
In fact, in many cases when a female entertainer does dress in a sexy manner, she gets vilified for that, too! It’s like there’s no way to win!
We’re just so glad Janelle stood up for herself!
In the end the original tweeter ended up apologizing:
