Were you surprised that Michelle Obama wore Jason Wu again to the Presidential Inauguration Ball on Monday?
So was he!
Wu said:
“Mrs. Obama likes to keep her secrets. She surprised me again. She├óΓé¼Γäós really good at it. I was so nervous. You├óΓé¼Γäód think I wouldn├óΓé¼Γäót be since I├óΓé¼Γäód experienced it before but I really was.”
Well, we’re not surprised FLOTUS is good at keeping secrets. She has to be!
Understandably, the 30-year-old designer was over the moon that the First Lady chose his design over everyone else’s, adding:
“I was just elated. It├óΓé¼Γäós hard to describe.”
We’d be jumping on couches Tom Cruise-style if we were him!
The woven faille gown features a white gold O-ring with pavé diamonds at the neckline made by jeweler Kimberly McDonald, and it will, of course, be donated to the National Archives.
Regarding his design process, Wu said:
“Like last time, I had to go with my gut. I instinctively had to think of the woman in the dress. After four years in office, I thought the country was ready to see a confident First Lady in red. It just felt right.”
And it looked right, too!
Congrats!
