Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright have finally come to an agreement on child custody arrangements for their son Cruz!
As Perezcious readers know, The Valley stars split in 2014 after tying the knot in 2019. Brittany was ultimately the one to file for divorce after a very tumultuous end of the romance, and Jax checked into treatment for mental health issues, including a bipolar and PTSD diagnosis.
It’s been very messy ever since, but thankfully, it seems they’re turning a corner and putting their 4-year-old first.

According to TMZ on Tuesday, the exes have finally settled on custody terms they both agree on. In the court paperwork, the Vanderpump Rules alums note that neither will have to pay child support. Instead, they’ll each be responsible for the costs and expenses associated with the little boy when he’s in their custody. And for Brittany, that’ll be a lot more of the time. Jax only has Cruz every other weekend and on Wednesday nights.
They’ll share joint legal custody and responsibility when it comes to decisions on Cruz’s health, education, and general welfare — however, should they disagree, Brit will get the final say on health decisions.
The co-parents also thought ahead and came up with a plan for a holiday schedule, plus agreed that Cruz is not allowed to meet either parent’s new significant other until six months into a relationship.
The most strict — and perhaps most pivotal — rule is that neither of them can be under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, or any form of illegal drug while Cruz is in their custody. Hopefully that’ll put them both at ease about Cruz’s safety while he’s in the other’s care, particularly after Jax’s addiction struggles.
The good news? It’s clear they both want to make this new arrangement as amicable as possible for their son. They even agreed to attempt in good faith to celebrate his birthdays together and to not trash talk the other in front of him. That’s good!
Here’s hoping this new agreement gives them clarity moving forward and allows for a calm, peaceful upbringing for Cruz!
