Diddy and JAY-Z just scored a MAJOR legal victory together — and an unexpected one, at that, especially when coming so late on a Friday afternoon.
According to a brand-new report out on TMZ, the unnamed woman who filed a lawsuit back in December accusing the rap music moguls of sexually assaulting her at an after party following the MTV VMAs back in 2000 — when she was just 13 years old at the time — has filed new documents in federal court to voluntarily dismiss her lawsuit.
As you may recall, the woman’s lawsuit was one of the biggest and most shocking of all the complaints that have been filed against Diddy (and, by extension, JAY-Z) over the last year. In her suit, the woman claimed the A-list pair assaulted her after she’d been brought to an NYC VMAs after party they were attending by a Diddy-employed limo driver who’d been hanging around outside the award show. But now, that case has gone up in smoke — by her own hand.

According to the Friday afternoon report, the anonymous woman who’d filed only as Jane Doe has moved to voluntarily dismiss her own case with prejudice. Those last two words are very significant, because legally, they indicate that she and her lawyer Tony Buzbee cannot refile this case at any point in the future. This is it. Over. Done!
Per that outlet, there were a couple very notable holes in the woman’s 25-year-old story that brought everyone involved to this conclusion. For one, she claimed to have been assaulted at a house party on that fateful night… even though pictures from the evening in question put JAY-Z at an after party in a very public NYC nightclub all evening long.
Furthermore, the woman claimed that her father picked her up from that same house after the assault took place. However, when he was queried about it, he had no memory of the night in question or ever picking her up. Whoa!
And finally, she claimed to have met Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden at another point on that same night. There’s just one little problem with that: Benji was out on tour on the night in question, and nowhere near NYC. Welp!
In a statement to TMZ following the lawsuit’s dismissal, JAY-Z called the moment a “victory” and said:
“Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, my loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.”
JAY-Z also lobbed a vicious piece of shade over at Buzbee, who is the lawyer representing the alleged victims in a LOT of these lawsuits against Diddy:
“This 1-800 lawyer gets to file a suit hiding behind Jane Doe, and when they quickly realize that the money grab is going to fail, they get to walk away with no repercussions. The system has failed.”
Ouch!
Beyoncé‘s husband thinks there must be some kind of recourse for people who are falsely accused:
“[The courts must also] protect the innocent from being accused without a shred of evidence. May the truth prevail for all victims and those falsely accused equally.”
For good measure, the outlet also received a statement from JAY-Z’s attorney Alex Spiro, who added:
“By standing up in the face of heinous and false allegations, Jay has done what few can — he pushed back, he never settled, he never paid one red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name.”
Wow.
Thoughts, y’all? Do you think the accuser was completely lying — or did the alleged trauma contribute to mixed memories? Share ’em (below)…
