Diddy’s massive 50th birthday party was essentially a celeb-only affair — and JAY-Z wanted to keep it that way!
As we reported, the Bad Boy Records mogul celebrated his half-century birthday Saturday night inside his $40 million Holmby Hills home with many, MANY a-listers in attendance.
Guests included Kim Kardashian West, Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Pharrell Williams, Cardi B, Offset, Khloé Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Chadwick Boseman, Post Malone, Tyler Perry, Kobe Bryant, Machine Gun Kelly, Jaden Smith, Kelly Rowland, Jay, and Beyoncé.
Needless to say, many would kill to see how a famous crew like that cuts loose: do they all break off into separate social circles? Do the super a-listers dance with everyone else? Some of the non-celebs who managed to snag invites tried to answer those questions by recording some of the event for their social media accounts.

Sadly, one amateur paparazzo’s efforts to record Bey getting her groove on were thwarted by the superstar’s bodyguard — aka, her husband!
Thanks to a separate amateur paparazzo’s video, the Formation singer was seen at the bash living her best life dancing with Rowland and Saweetie, with Jay a few feet away. A man dancing right next to the group was seen sneakily trying to record Bey in the act, but the rap titan straight up snatched the dude’s phone away!
After some “playful” scolding, Jay handed the man his phone back, all while Yoncé was (thankfully) too busy dancing to notice. A fan account wrote of the incident:
“Jay snatching someone’s phone cause he was filming Beyoncé dancing with @saweetie & @kellyrowland ? He loves his wife..”

Aside from the phone snatching, the night was said to be a peaceful, fun affair. Jay and frenemy Kanye were photographed shaking hands following a strained period in their relationship.
Diddy, of course, was able to freely photograph his celeb guests throughout the night. He compiled some of the best shots from the celebration in an Instagram post, writing:
“Last night was one of those nights I’ll never forget. But something that sticks out to me is what my young creative @kaito put together with @vanityfair. All I can say is wow!! I’ve watched you grow from just a photographer to someone who captures beautiful art. Looking at these images makes me so proud. Thank you King! #DIDDY50 and thank you @natmoar.”
Diddy also recently posted a tribute to his late ex Kim Porter on her birthday, writing:
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY @ladykp Words can’t explain how much we miss you but today is your birthday. We’re celebrating you today! We love and we miss you!!!!!”
