It’s about time!
On Tuesday, word broke out that transgender actress Jen Richards has been cast in a recurring role on the upcoming fifth season of Nashville on CMT!

Richards will play Allyson Del Lago, a physical therapist who assists one of the series regulars. This is CMT’s first transgender character, and the first time they will feature an openly transgender actor.
Jen will share screen time with returning cast members Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere, and Charles Esten.
If you think you’ve seen the actress/writer/producer before, you have! Not only did she appear on Caitlyn Jenner‘s now-cancelled reality TV show I Am Cait, she made headlines when she criticized Mark Ruffalo‘s film Anything for having a cisgender actor (Matt Bomer) play someone trans.
Season five of Nashville begins January 5.
We are so proud of Jen, and we can’t wait to see more trans visibility on television!
