While Jennette McCurdy isn’t the first and probably won’t be the last celebrity with a NSFW photo scandal, her leaked sexy selfies have turned her tween-friendly world upside down!
In fact, the Sam & Cat star was VERY noticeably absent from the Kids’ Choice Awards 2014 — but was the scandal really the reason for her absence?
If you read her statement she released shortly after not showing up at the orange carpet, then the answer could most certainly be YES!
She explained:
A lot of you guys are asking why I didn’t attend the KCAs…. I wish I could explain everything as thoroughly as I would like to, but unfortunately a simpler explanation is all I can write. I was put in an uncomfortable, compromising, unfair situation (many of you have guessed what it is) and I had to look out for me. I chose to not go because sticking up for what is right and what is fair is what my mom taught me is ALWAYS the most important thing. I want to thank those of you who have reached out with kind words of support, McCurdians and Arianators alike. No matter who or what you support, I believe in supporting fairness first. If you have done that, thank you.

The timing all is a bit too coincidental for Jennette to claim the two incidents have nothing to do with each other, but she clarified:

Regardless of how Nick may or may not be handling the major scandal, there is no doubt Jennette’s old gal pal Ariana Grande was missing her bestie as she accepted her award that night…
…unless they aren’t friends at all anymore.
That’s right! We said it and we have good reason to suspect their BFF split considering Jennette totally unfollowed the pop diva on Twitter!
And we all know a friendship doesn’t mean much if it isn’t Twit-official! HA!
In all seriousness, we sincerely hope that the photos weren’t enough to break up one of our fave celeb duos.
As for Nickelodeon, if they are embarrassed by the TV star’s obviously accidental X-rated photos, than we say they don’t deserve her!
