Uh oh! Could we have another Dilemma on our hands here???
Back in October, Jennifer Aniston’s Break-Up co-star Vince Vaughn was dealing with controversy over a gay joke in his movie The Dilemma, and now Jen could be in a similar situation.
In her new movie Horrible Bosses, Aniston plays one of the less-than-pleasant bosses, and in a scene where her assistant gets uncomfortable because she’s ONLY wearing a white lab coat, she says the following to him:
“You├óΓé¼Γäóre starting to sound like a little faggot there, Dale.”
Here’s what Horrible Bosses co-writer John Francis Daley had to say about the offensive comment:
“She is a horrible person, so I think when it is coming out of her mouth, it is understandably offensive.”
And here’s what Daley’s writing partner Jonathan Goldstein had to say about it:
“It’s indefensible. I think part of the challenge is to, in a fairly short amount of time, get these guys to a place where an audience can empathize├óΓé¼┬ª.To shorthand that, we tried to think: what are the most offensive things they can say? Using a word like that I think is one of them. It says this woman is irredeemable.”
And here’s Goldstein on whether or not Jen had any issues with making the offensive comment on screen:
“She didn├óΓé¼Γäót have any objections. She wanted to dive into this villain with both feet, and she did.”
We understand that her character is saying the offensive comment 100% in context for her character…but then again, couldn’t they find a less polarizing offensive word for her to say???
What do U think? Is Jen’s anti-gay slur okay for this movie, or do U think it should NEVER be used?
