Ben Affleck may be all in on reigniting his flame with Jennifer Garner, but we’re hearing she’s pumping the brakes.
Since the Argo star’s divorce from Jennifer Lopez, he’s been really throwing himself into family time with Garner and their kids. All that time together has created an opportunity for a LOT of romance speculation. And we’ve now heard from at least one Ben source that it’s more than fan imagination; he really does want her back!
Most recently, the exes sparked reconciliation rumors after they were spotted taking their son Samuel out for some paint balling fun to celebrate his 13th birthday… Which quickly turned into a cuddling sesh for the divorced pair! In footage obtained by TMZ, Ben can be seen intimately grabbing the Family Switch star by her waist and pulling her in close for a hug. It really sold us on the claims he’s into it!
But on Wednesday, an insider spoke to DailyMail.com about the status of the Daredevil co-stars’ current relationship — and spoiler alert, the Elektra star apparently isn’t quite convinced! But… maybe she could be??

The insider claims she’s “deathly afraid of falling back in love” with Ben! Whoa! That’s a huge statement! It makes it sound like there ARE still those romantic feelings, just buried down deep!
But Jen has a reason for all the shoveling! Others may have forgotten amidst the Bennifer 2.0 of it all, but THIS MAN BROKE HER HEART! The source she still has lingering “trust issues” stemming from when he allegedly slept with their nanny Christine Ouzounian all those years ago:
“She loves Ben but is worried that he will crush her all over again.”
Damn. Yeah, it’s completely valid. She went through a LOT with him — beyond just the cheating rumors. Their divorce hit her REALLY hard. Way back in 2016, she opened up in a lengthy interview with Vanity Fair about how she was managing navigating their split, which you can read all about HERE.
Basically, she explained that while her dream future came crumbling down, she still felt strongly about being friends with Ben… Which she’s more than made good for her promise on! So yes, he’s the father of her children whom she loves… but is he really someone she wants to give her heart over to again?
On that note, the kids are another huge factor weighing against a decision to give in:
“She doesn’t want to heal another broken heart because it is just too much drama, plus she does not want their kids to see round two of their mom in a bad place with their dad. So much could go wrong if they reunite.”
All true. Hell, he just tried to recapture the magic with Jennifer Lopez, and we all saw how that turned out! If he’s just on a High Fidelity-style, mid-life crisis tour of his past relationships… does she really want to be a pit stop for him?? Not to mention how he’d be putting the kids through ANOTHER breakup! And they have certainly been through their share!
Plus, she’s still dating businessman John Miller… They’ve been together over sixe years now, and it’s supposedly going fine… Though they haven’t been publicly spotted together in a few weeks. Maybe he’s sensing Ben’s rumored game??
