We think someone is gunning for another Oscar!
It has just been announced that Jennifer Hudon will be appearing in the new biopic Winnie, which follows the life of the former wife of Nelson Mandela.
It’s sure to be a rather heavy viewing and when asked about accepting the role, Jennifer replied:
“I was compelled and moved when I read the script. Winnie Mandela is a complex and extraordinary woman and I’m honored to be the actress asked to portray her. This is a powerful part of history that should be told.”
For those of you who don’t know, Winnie Mandela was just as much a fighter against apartheid as Nelson is. She too was jailed for her campaigning, but it was her association with a man who murdered a 14-year old alleged informant that ultimately shattered her good name.
There, a history lesson for the day. Now, you can skip school if you want.
