Jennifer Lopez has big plans for her single era!
As you may recall, when her album This Is Me… Now dropped earlier this year, the 55-year-old singer shockingly hinted she was retiring from music! She told Entertainment Tonight in February:
“The truth is I don’t even know if I’ll ever make another album after this. It’s such the kind of quintessential kind of Jennifer Lopez J.Lo project, and I really feel very fulfilled, so they really will be collector’s items at a certain point. Don’t tell Benny [Medina, her longtime manager] that that’s what I’m thinking — this might be my last album ever.”
Is it really her “last album?” It can’t be, right? We’re talking about J.Lo here! It’s not like she’s aging! LOLz!

Another important point thought? There’s no way she’d go out on a flop like This Is Me… Now. And does she really want her legacy to be the album largely inspired by her rekindled relationship with Ben Affleck?! Well, here comes the record scratch! Die-hard Jennifer Lopez fans can rest easy! Just because the filmmaker is out of the picture, she still has a muse in her life — success. That’s why she is now reportedly on the hunt for new music. And not just any new music — she wants a banger! And not just one either — an entire album full of smash hits!
A source revealed to Page Six on Thursday Jennifer is looking for a new song to release amid her divorce from the Argo actor. We’re not talking about some super emotional ballad here, either! It sounds like she wants to go upbeat — because she wants “a big dance” track:
“They have reached out to songwriters. She wants a big dance hit. Her priority [career-wise] is music. There is no point of her going into it unless it’s big, and critics say it’s the old Lopez. She needs a big banger.”
That she does! As we mentioned, the Hustlers star also wants a lot of them — enough to release a new album. The insider added:
“She wants to get hits, and put out a new album.”
Wow!!!
What’s driving her to make more music is, of course, the fact that her last album received mixed reviews from critics — and didn’t land with fans either. Heck, it didn’t even break the top 20 on the Billboard Top 200, debuting at number 38 instead. And let’s not forget how poorly her tour sold. Jen ended up canceling the whole thing! Oof.
After spending all that time, effort, and money — a whopping $20 million on an album, film, and documentary — only for it to fail is brutal! On top of that, she split from someone she thought she would spend the rest of your life with! The girl took a lot of Ls this year! Now she’s determined to get a win! The insider continued:
“She has had an enormous amount of hits and can’t accept the last album is the end of her music career. She wants to wash away the stink of ‘This is Me Now.’”
So moving forward, Jennifer’s “priority is on music” — well, career in general because she isn’t slowing down the acting either. As the source pointed out:
“She is a workhorse.”
