Kerry Washington, Kristen Bell, & Jessica Chastain were just a few of the big names that walked the pink runway at the 2015 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday, and they all went for a similar style.
All three actresses went with a classic little black dress, but they each achieved vastly different levels of success with their fashion choices.
Kerry Washington was the most conservative of the bunch, sporting a Balenciaga gown with sheer sleeves. The dress is fine, but the cut is just slightly too short so it lands awkwardly on her shins. Plus, the neckline is so abstract that it looks like the Scandal star is wearing a lei choker.
We’re loving the diamond detailing on the hips, though!

Jessica Chastain, on the other hand, was the clear winner of the night, mostly because she played it incredibly safe. The crocheted sleeves of her Saint Laurent LBD are a unique tough, but we feel as though we’ve seen this look before.
And lastly, the unsung hero of the Spirit Awards… Kristen Bell.
We say hero because it was clearly her intention to look as terrible as possible as to ensure no other attendees landed as worst dressed.
The dress was surprisingly designed by Andrew Gn and we just hate it.
The hem of the black portion of the outfit is weirdly placed, and then the lilac lace just makes it even worse. But it’s really the green bow that looks as though it was cut out of lime-green construction paper that really drives the whole thing into the ground.
But, the Frozen star’s hair is en pointe, so we’ll give her that!
Strangely enough, Kerry, Kristen, & Jessica each picked a nearly-identical heel, so we guess great minds think alike!
Better luck at the Oscars, ladies.
