Following months of rumors, Jessica Simpson announced on Monday night that after 10 years of marriage, she and her husband, Eric Johnson, are over. She told People they “have been living separately” while “navigating a painful situation in our marriage.” Although the singer reportedly has been “handling the separation well,” it sounds like it’s been a difficult time for her, especially at the start.
However, she has channeled any anger and pain from the split into music! Talk about a silver lining!

A source revealed to Dailymail.com on Tuesday that Jessica already recorded a breakup album — or, as they described it, a “revenge”/”heartbreak” album! Whoa! She apparently has been recording music at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles and in Nashville, where she has called home since 2023, to reconnect with her country music “roots.” Oh, so we should expect another country album! Exciting!
And what Jessica has worked on is deeply personal. According to the insider, the Irresistible artist penned many songs about her “broken heart” as her marriage to Eric came crashing down:
“It will be about her broken heart, so, yeah, I guess you can call it a revenge, a heartbreak album. When Jessica writes music, she pours her heart into it and has no filter, it’s very personal. So the album will really be about the struggles she has been through at home. It is super emotional and shares her side of the story.”
It seems she has quite the “story” to tell, too!
Jessica and Eric’s relationship reportedly has been rocky for years as they struggled with “trust issues.” The exact cause of those problems is unknown. However, when the divorce rumors started, sources claimed he was flirtatious with other women while drinking and partied at bars solo without wearing his wedding ring! All that will definitely cause a lot of trust issues in a marriage! Not to mention it possibly gave Jessica inspo for her album, which has been a work in progress for some time now! The Dailymail.com insider added:
“She has been working on the album for years, there is a lot in there.”
Wow! We can’t wait for this next music era from Jessica and to hear what she has to say about her relationship with Eric over these past few years! The last album she dropped was a Christmas album in 2010! So it’s about damn time she’s releasing something new!
No word yet on when the album will drop, though. Jessica has been teasing her music on Instagram since November. In fact, one of her posts — about how her “comeback is personal” and an “apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve” — is what reignited the breakup rumors again.
